Project Details

Crown Plaza Hotel

In partnership with their energy consultant Green Shield Group, we identified their needs from both sustainability and financial standpoints, while ensuring minimal disruption to guest experiences.

Installed 52kWP system at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Ealing London

Planned for minimal disruption to guest occupants

Payback period is expected to be under 3 years

The Process

01 Hotel Energy Goals

After evaluating their energy demand, we realized a full roof space was unnecessary, and instead designed a system tailored to their smaller demand profile. With rising energy prices and a Group-wide initiative to cut energy usage, the hotel was eager to undertake a renewable project to lower their carbon footprint and secure future energy savings.

02 Unintrusive Installation Plan

We planned the installation during periods of low guest occupancy to minimise disruption. Collaborating with the operations team, we ensured all roofs were solid and suitable for the project.

The Result

In just over a week, we installed a 52kWP system, providing Crowne Plaza Ealing with 46,118kWh annually—18% of their yearly electricity needs—while keeping guest disruption minimal. This results in the hotel avoiding over 10 tonnes of carbon annually, supporting their and the Group’s ESG objectives. Given their power costs at the project’s inception, the payback period is expected to be under 3 years, promising many years of free renewable energy.
