Why would your farm or agricultural business benefit from solar energy?

Adopting solar energy offers UK agricultural businesses a range of benefits beyond just financial savings. As energy prices become increasingly unpredictable, solar power provides a stable, cost-effective solution, enabling farms to significantly lower their electricity expenses.

This stability is vital for preserving profitability in an industry often affected by volatile market conditions.

Additionally, government incentives like the UK’s Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) allow farms to sell excess energy back to the grid, boosting revenue and supporting the shift to renewable energy. Solar panels require minimal maintenance and offer long lifespans, making them a strong long-term investment. For agricultural businesses aiming to future-proof operations, enhance brand reputation, and achieve energy independence, solar power is a strategic choice that offers financial, environmental, and market benefits.

The benefits Solar PV could bring to your Farming / Agricultural Business?

Adopting solar energy provides UK agricultural businesses with more than just financial savings. With the volatility of energy prices, solar offers a stable, cost-effective alternative, helping farms reduce electricity costs and maintain profitability in an unpredictable market.

Beyond savings, solar power supports sustainability efforts, meeting consumer demand for environmentally responsible practices and reducing the farm’s carbon footprint. It enhances appeal to eco-conscious customers and retailers.

Government incentives, like the UK’s Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), add further financial benefits by enabling farms to sell surplus energy back to the grid, boosting revenue and supporting the shift to renewable energy.

FAQs

Will my livestock be safe?

To ensure the safety of your property and livestock in case of an emergency, our technology includes an extensive list of safety features, including SafeDCTM. This built-in module-level safety technology minimises the risk of electrocution. Whenever the grid is down, the inverter is shut down during maintenance or due to an emergency, the system automatically switches to safety mode, whereby the output voltage of each module is reduced to a touch-safe 1V to maintain string voltage below risk levels.

Do you do projects throughout the UK?

Yes, we do projects from Scotland to the south coast. The sun’s intensity does vary throughout the UK, however, we have many projects in Scotland and the north of the UK that still have great commercial and carbon savings.

Do I need planning permission?

Smaller projects no longer need planning permission if it is on the roof. It will just need permitted development applications made, and we do all of this on your behalf. Ground mount you will.

Will the installation of solar panels disrupt my farm?

No. Our team will ensure your business’s day-to-day operations are not disrupted and ensure your employees and fans do not have an inferior experience at your site.
