GB Eye
GB Eye Limited was seeking ways to address rising operational costs and increase sustainability. With electricity prices climbing and growing pressures to adopt greener practices, they recognised, in conjunction with CBREIM, the importance of future-proofing their commercial premises. Their goal was to reduce dependence on grid electricity while ensuring their property remained efficient and environmentally responsible.

The Process
01 Clear Solar Energy Goals
Shawton Energy designed and installed a PV system, supported by CBREIM, to address the client’s challenges. The system was designed around GB Eye Limited’s known annual energy consumption, ensuring optimal performance and impact. This solution enabled the business to meet over 30% of its electricity demand through solar power. For CBREIM, the funded system enhances the value and security of their asset, providing benefits in tenancy stability and sustainability credentials.
02 Bespoke Turnkey Solution
Shawton Energy made the process straightforward for both parties, offering a completely hands-off approach. From managing the G99 application with the Distribution Network Operator to conducting all inspections and surveys, Shawton ensured the entire process was seamless. Post-installation, Shawton provides GB Eye Limited with an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract. This service ensures that the system will remain in excellent working condition for a nominal annual fee. Additionally, it gives the landlord peace of mind that the installation is properly maintained and is in good order if the tenant chooses to exit at the end of their lease.

The Result
The installation had no impact on GB Eye Limited’s use of the property, allowing operations to continue uninterrupted. The PV system has performed as expected, delivering measurable cost and CO2 savings while enabling the tenant to explore options such as selling excess power back to the grid. The project not only addressed the client’s immediate energy concerns, but also significantly enhanced their enjoyment and sustainability of the property.

“From when the landlord approached us with the idea of installing PV, the process has been straightforward. Shawton Energy carried out the works in a timely and professional manner. We are really pleased with the results and would recommend Shawton Energy. One of the best contractors I have had the pleasure to work with.”
