As part of the Shawton Group, which was established in 1986, SEL has quickly established itself as a trusted name in the energy sector. At the end of 2023, 50% of SEL was acquired by Lazard Asset Management (LAM), a global investment business and bank. The ultimate parent company of LF&Co., Lazard Ltd., is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

Virtual power purchase agreements for Solar PV solutions

Lazard SPI was established in 2021 and is based on a partnership between LAM’s existing capabilities and the established expertise of the SPI investment team. The LSPI investment professionals have worked together at LAM and in previous roles, and benefit from the support of the LAM institutional investment platform. The LSPI investment team has extensive experience in the UK and European infrastructure, partnering with management teams, and growing infrastructure companies in an efficient and mutually beneficial way. Lazard SPI have committed to investing £250m into funded renewable energy projects on behalf of SEL and work hand in hand with the organisation to further develop the business and enter new energy markets.

Our board is made up of 4 members, 2 from Shawton Energy and 2 from Lazard Investment with an equal 50% share between both organisations.

Jamie Shaw

Managing Director

Jamie is the Managing Director of Shawton Energy and has overseen the growth and success of the business. He has a passion for the energy sector and has spent the last two decades working in this area as well as in structural engineering. He now brings all the expertise he has gained over that period, to the clients he works with at Shawton Energy..

Daniel Stewart

Operations Director

Our Operations Director, Daniel, joined us in early 2022 following more than two decades of experience within the engineering & construction industry, designing and managing multi-discipline engineering teams and operatives. He has extensive design and project management experience and has worked on projects ranging from small refurbishments to multi-million-pound data centres.

Robert Wall

Head of Sustainable Private Infrastructure

Leading our partnership with Lazard Asset Management, Robert provides more than 20 years of experience growing private market investment portfolios, investing in infrastructure and renewable companies, and delivering major engineering projects. He has developed investment strategies, grown teams internationally, invested in private infrastructure companies across various sectors, and has been a non-executive director of operating companies in Europe, the UK and Australia.

John Creswell

Operating Advisor at Lazard

John is a former CEO and senior executive of several operating companies in telecom infrastructure, media and transport. He now brings is 30 years of experience as an executive to Shawton Energy. After serving as a CEO of listed (FTSE 100) and private companies, John currently chairs boards of several infrastructure companies, and provides board-level support and engagement with portfolio investments.
