Their costs had already increased considerably with the installation of a new Health and Fitness centre, so in a bid to reduce their energy bills and protect their prestigious club against volatile energy costs, they approached Shawton Energy to install a fully funded Solar PV system.

The Process
Bespoke Solar Solution
In conjunction with our trusted development partners Green Shield Group, a 59kWp system from leading Solar PV manufacturer SolarEdge was installed over two locations at Dunham Forest Golf and Country Club over a period of two weeks.
Effective Funding Agreement
The project was completed through the use of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), a solution provided by Shawton Energy, that enables organisations to make the switch to low-cost renewable energy without any upfront costs.
This allowed Dunham Forest Golf and Country Club to switch effortlessly to low-cost, green solar energy, and they now purchase energy generated on-site by the Solar PV system at a reduced cost, which is fixed and increases annually at the Retail Price Index rate.
Non-Disruptive Installation Process
Remaining open throughout the duration of the installation, Shawton Energy had to take this into consideration throughout the entire process. We created a site compound as far away from the Club entrance as possible to ensure there was no disruption to members and guests.
The Solar PV system was installed so that it didn’t impact the aesthetics of the front of the building and our design ensured the installation was positioned across the main clubhouse and on the roof of the health and fitness centre, meaning the visual appeal at the front of the club was maintained.
Could your business benefit from solar energy?
The Result
The installed system now produces around 30% of Dunham Forest Golf and Country Club’s annual energy requirement, making the Club more sustainable and helping it work towards net zero carbon.
The system will reduce the Club’s carbon footprint by over 13 tonnes every single year.
“The Solar PV system was installed so that it didn’t impact the aesthetics of the front of the building.”
