Food Warehouse Shrewsbury
Having completed numerous rooftop installations at both Iceland and Food Warehouse sites across the UK – delivered under Shawton Energy’s multi-site partnership with Iceland – the Food Warehouse in Shrewsbury was selected as the next location for implementation.
Maintaining uninterrupted retail operations during installation was critical, with tight timelines and the need to avoid customer disruption adding further complexity.
By adopting a fully funded solution via a Power Purchase Agreement, Iceland was able to benefit from the new rooftop solar PV system from day one, without any upfront capital expenditure. Under the agreement, Shawton Energy will also manage all ongoing system maintenance at no additional cost to Iceland.

The Process
01 Bespoke Turnkey Solution
Through detailed analysis of the energy usage, costs and site layout of the Food Warehouse store, Shawton Energy designed a bespoke, turnkey solution.
02 Installation Plan
The installation team fitted rooftop solar PV modules creating an overall generator surface of over 440m². Working in close collaboration with Iceland’s team, Shawton Energy completed the full installation within two weeks in a live store environment, with the system becoming fully operational in August.
