Renewable technology provider, Shawton Energy, has been appointed to a Co-op framework to support the rollout of significant rooftop solar installations across the retail giant’s UK estate.
The Co-op is one of the UK’s biggest food retailers and has over 2,500 food stores across the country. The initiative is part of the Co-op Group’s commitment to becoming a net-zero business.
Working alongside delivery partner Sol PV, Shawton Energy will design, develop, fund, and manage rooftop solar PV systems at key Co-op locations through its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model.
This approach allows Co-op, one of the UK’s largest retailers in the UK, to benefit from clean onsite energy generation without the need for upfront capital investment.
