This site, based in Doncaster, forms part of the company’s wider renewable energy rollout across its UK estate.

The Process

25 year Power Purchase Agreement

Shawton Energy delivered a turnkey rooftop solar PV solution under a 25 year Power Purchase Agreement, allowing Iceland to benefit from renewable electricity generation without upfront investment.

Non-disruptive Installation

The Doncaster installation consists of 119 solar panels covering 264.6 m² of generation surface and providing an installed capacity of 60.69 kWp. The project was completed following a two week installation programme, with works managed to ensure minimal impact on daily operations.

The Result

The Doncaster solar installation generates approximately 52,409 kWh of renewable electricity annually, saving 11,107 kg of CO₂ each year.

The system reduces exposure to energy price volatility while lowering operational emissions. As part of Iceland’s ongoing solar rollout, the Doncaster project demonstrates how renewable energy can be successfully integrated into live retail environments while supporting the company’s Net Zero 2040 commitment.
